The story of my coffee cup

Hello my beautiful friends,

I want to share with you the story of my coffee cup. I got used to having coffee when I started graduate school. Really it was occasional  cup of coffee just to get away from my desk. Until Starbucks introduced its app to pay with your phone and you collect 'stars'. Every 12-star gives you a bonus reward of food or beverage of your choice. It was incredible in the beginning as I was checking every night when I would reach the maximum 12 stars for my reward. After a little bit, I bought my yellow mug, which I truly love, from UofT bookstore. The habit was to take my mug home every night, wash it, and take it back with me the next day for my Starbucks coffee on my way back to my desk.

I became a Gold member of Starbucks after a little bit and start receiving promotions of the week. I believe this promotion was smart, meaning, as soon as I used my promotions I got more and more. How did I realize this? (I never researched on my hypothesis, may be I should!). My sister, also a Gold member, barely received any of the promotions I used to get. Do you know why? Because she really doesn't shop regularly from Starbucks like I used to buy! Smart eh! Starbucks was playing Stars with me! I bought more items for more Stars. Suddenly, I realized I am spending more than $150 per month reloading my card for just being addicted of using my card to see more promotions. Funny thing is that, I only needed one sip of my coffee to freshen me up for the rest of the day. Anyways, one day I decided to at least save the money I spend in Starbucks for a good cause, not knowing how it feels quitting it.

It was two weeks ago when I decided to quit coffee. Since then, I thought it through so much. Thinking that I have missed everything about coffee so much: standing in the line to order it, the smell of the coffee and drinking it with my breakfast at my desk, I mean absolutely everything about it! Until, yesterday that I decided to have a Latte from Starbucks. Man, I felt bad afterwards! It didn't give me as much joy as it used to give, I was so thirsty afterwards that nothing could take away my thirst. This feeling kinda continued to today, when I woke up I had this wired taste in my mouth that I didn't have for the past two weeks! I am sure if I never tried the Latte, I would go back to drinking coffee.

I wanted to share with you what I really think about Starbucks and coffee in general. I really don't get why are so many people are addicted and obsessed with coffee!

How many cups of coffee do you take a day ? How do you feel about it afterwards? Do you just like the smell of it? Do you love coffee? Why? Tell me, I love to know your thoughts.

Wish you a great night,
Sweet dreams,
Elnaz

ps. I replaced my coffee with green tea.
