My Travel Continued in to US
Hartford, CT, USA (27th August, 2014):
Hello my beautiful friends,
Our travel on August continued on when we decided to have a visit to Ardeshir. From Fredericton, he was about 1900 Km away and unlike Canada we didn't want to have a lot of stops before we get to him. We decided to have only one stop around midway. It was very hard to say goodbye to Mehrnaz, we were off to the road to beautiful state called Maine.
As soon as we crossed the boarder, just a little over one hour, the road was so green. It was very different from Canada roads, very much greener! For a first few hours, almost no one else was on the road and the maximum speed was 75 miles/hour, therefore it was easy ride. We had a stop at Starbucks in Waterville, Maine. It was a very very hot day (about 40 degrees Celsius). We enjoyed the coffee and water break.
After passing through State of New Hampshire we were into the busy State of Massachusetts. There were a lot of cars and lots of traffic. It was about 7pm and we were expecting a thunderstorm ahead of us. I was driving all day and was almost exhausted. We were close to the city of Worcester, MA where Peyman took over driving. It was almost dark and started to rain, one of the worst thunderstorms I have ever seen. Not knowing the road well, we made a few mistakes on the exists, so everyone was frustrated. Around 9pm, we finally got to downtown Hartford, CT, where we decided to stay. We found a great deal on Hotwire and stayed in HolidayInn in East Hartford. It was a great stay.
Columbus, OH, USA (28th August, 2014):
In the morning, we had our breakfast Persian way, by the hotel on the grasses near by. It was much cooler than the day before.
We went around the historic city of Hartford. We were told that it is very expensive city, since Hartford is located two hours away from New York City and Boston.
Around noon everyone agreed to get back on the road with about 1100 Km to go. Soon, we were into beautiful State of New York. We were so tempted to visit NYC as we were so close! Haha, we didn't! The sky was beautiful, the weather was amazing and on top of all the road was breathtaking. The Appalachian Mountain run through the middle of the Pennsylvania State. It was very, very beautiful. I cannot really explain the beauty of the ups and downs of the road. Driving west, the sun was setting in front of us and at some point we were not able to see anything on the road, truly nothing! I was driving really slow at that point, it was a bit scary but a wonderful experience when you look back.
When we got on State of Ohio, it was dark. Again, Peyman took over driving for the last portion only 250 Km to go. The last two hour was tiring but Dad made it so interesting by asking fun fact questions to challenge our brain. By the time we got to Columbus, Ohio, it was 12 am. Ardeshir was waiting for us with pizzas. So great to be home! I was so happy to show my family, my new home! I enjoyed showing my parents and Peyman around. They stayed with us for Labour day weekend. We spent one of the hot days by the out-door pool in our complex. Ardeshir and I throw a little BBQ party by the pool. It was so much fun.
It was very interesting journey here, lots of driving but it worth it!
Ardeshir and I drove back to Toronto on September 4th.
How did you spend your Labour day weekend?
With tons of Love,
Elnaz
